| Judy and Suzi return from a rewarding trip to South Africa (10th August 2007) |
We had a fantastic experience and, although it was hard work, found it very rewarding.
Some of th e activities we were involved in included helping out at Kids Stop, a centre run by Youth for Christ. This is based in a township where the children come, often with no shoes and little clothing and they get some kind of meal and teaching. We ran a camp for 3 days with Bible stories, sports and arts and crafts. It was amazing to see how something simple like playing football with a child means so much to them. Another project we worked on was at CMSR Children’s home where we ‘changing rooms style’ renovated a room into a study area for the teenagers. Our creative skills we put to the test when we decorated a children’s crèche with murals in a local community centre. We also spent time with patients in an AIDS hospice and with children and young farmers in the rural community around George.
Thank you very much to everyone who sponsored us in the marathon and for your kind donations. Pounds go a long way in South we were able to donate food and clothing to various worthy causes.
