VSO was voted top international development charity in the International Aid and Development category at the Charity Awards 2004 for its work in promoting innovative approaches to globalising volunteering.
 
Now in 2006 VSO has moved with the times and started to promote its volunteer services by email marketing.  The Charity now uses email to broadcast a series of newsletters to different segments of its supporters and volunteers lists.
 
The Charity intends to move more of its print direct mail to digital as the initial email broadcasts were received with great applause.
